Load testing is mandatory for all new equipment following any modifications and after the crane has been out of service. This testing ensures crane safety, confirms operational capacity under specified loads, and maintains compliance with governmental regulations.

According to OSHA 1910.179, the following criteria must be met:

Initial Testing: All newly installed or altered cranes must undergo comprehensive testing before initial use. This includes verification of the following functions:

Hoist Limit Switches: The trip setting for hoist limit switches must be determined through tests involving an empty hook moving at increasing speeds up to the maximum operational speed. These switches must be positioned to ensure timely activation, preventing any contact between the hook or block and the trolley components.

As per OSHA 1910.179(k)(2), our load tests are conducted with loads not exceeding 125% of the maximum rated load unless the crane manufacturer specifies otherwise. After testing, Carson Crane Inc. will issue a written report to document the outcomes and compliance status.
